Hail Damage Insurance Claim Help
We do not adjust your claim and we are not your public adjuster. What we do is document the roof properly, meet your adjuster on it, and make sure the scope reflects what is actually there.
Short answer
To file a hail damage insurance claim, get the roof professionally documented first, then call your carrier with the date of loss and request an adjuster inspection. Have the contractor meet the adjuster on the roof. Review the resulting scope line by line against the documentation, and submit a supplement for anything missing before repairs begin.
The order of operations
Most homeowners call the carrier first and the contractor second, and that is backwards. If you file before anyone has documented the roof, the adjuster's inspection becomes the only record of the damage, and if they miss the rear elevation or the soft metals, that omission becomes the baseline you then have to argue against. Get the roof documented first. Then file, with a date of loss and a description of what was found. It is a materially stronger position.
Meeting the adjuster
An adjuster covering a metro after a large hail event may be inspecting a dozen roofs a day, sometimes more, occasionally as a catastrophe contractor flown in from out of state. They are not the enemy and most of them are conscientious, but they are working fast. Having your contractor on the roof at the same time, with the test squares already marked and the photographs in hand, changes the quality of that inspection substantially. We do this on every claim we are part of.
Reading the scope
The adjuster's estimate is a line-item document and it is worth reading carefully. Common omissions are ridge cap, starter course, drip edge, ice and water shield where code requires it, decking replacement, detach-and-reset of solar or satellite equipment, and permit fees. None of these are exotic. They get left out because the estimate was written quickly. A supplement corrects it, and supplements are a routine part of the process, not a fight.
Deductibles, and the offer you should refuse
Your deductible is owed and it will be subtracted from the settlement. Anyone who offers to waive it, absorb it, pay it for you, or rebate it through inflated invoicing is proposing insurance fraud, and in most Midwest states it is a criminal offense that exposes you as well as them. It is also the clearest signal you will ever get about who you are dealing with. Walk away.

Where a contractor helps and where they should not
We are not your adjuster and we are not your public adjuster, and any roofer who talks like one is overstepping. What a contractor legitimately does is document the roof properly, be present when the adjuster inspects it, and identify line items that were missed. That is it, and it is enough. We have been doing exactly that on Midwest claims since 1947 without ever needing to be anything else.
